Taxes and Fiscal Management
I will work to
stabilize or reduce our property taxes by prudent fiscal management, by
support of initiatives that increase ratables, and by identifying and
attracting other funding sources. I will urge the State to assume
the costs of state mandated programs.
-
Education Our
children are the key to the future, and schools are essential to a healthy
community. My record of support for education is clear from my
leadership on the Board of Education, the PTA Council and the Montclair
Fund for Educational Excellence (MFEE) which provides non-tax funds for
our schools.
-
Parking I support
the rapid and cost effective completion of new facilities at the Crescent
Lot, Bay Street Station, Montclair Heights, Orange Road and the Hahne’s
Site which will create new spaces. Surface lots, meter parking and
on street parking must maintain our residential community and meet the
needs of merchants, employees and shoppers.
-
Affordable Housing
I support the Master Plan’s commitment to diversity in housing options.
The Developer’s Fee is a first step in maintaining affordability.
I voted for the ordinance that requires developers to pay a fee to support
affordable housing or to include 10% affordable units in commercial and
residential projects.
-
Civility and Courtesy
We must respect each other and consider the needs of each segment of our
population. I will work with all groups to improve
communications and find common solutions.
